Bulls guard Jimmy Butler was taken off the court on a cart with a left knee sprain during the game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.
Late in the second quarter, Butler was fouled on a drive to the basket by the Nuggets’ Joffrey Lauvergne and Butler landed hard on the floor.
The veteran was helped to his feet and to the free-throw line where he hit one of two free throws. Butler then was helped to a cart and taken off. A short time later, Butler limped to the locker room with ice and a wrap on the knee. The Bulls announced it as a left knee sprain and that Butler would not return.
Butler missed his first game of the season Wednesday night with tendinitis in the same knee.
