  • Bill Daley watched “Rahm twist” after being forced into a runoff with Jesus “Chuy” Garcia

Bill Daley and Mayor Rahm Emanuel both served as White House chief of staff under President Barack Obama, but it doesn’t mean the two men are friends. An e-mail from Daley, the brother of former Mayor Richard M. Daley, was among those sent to John Podesta, now the head of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign, and leaked via WikiLeaks. In the e-mail Daley writes that he was “watching Rahm twist” during the mayoral runoff election between Emanuel and Cook County commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia in March 2015. “While Daley’s reference to watching Emanuel ‘twist’ hardly qualifies as malice, it also didn’t exactly suggest that Daley was suffering heartache over the mayor’s problems,” writes the Tribune‘s Kim Janssen. • The complicated relationship between Hillary Clinton and the World Series-bound Cubs

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a complicated lifelong relationship with the Cubs, who are now headed to the World Series for the first time since 1945. Growing up in suburban Park Ridge, Clinton was a Cubs fans who attended games with her family. She eventually became a New York Yankees fan as well, which some Cubs fans have never forgiven her for. “I couldn’t stay hitched with a losing team,” she said to the Economic Club of Chicago in 2014. “I had to search for a team that would counterbalance the experience of losing every single year, so—I hate to say this, and I know you’ll boo me—I became a Yankees fan.” [CNN]

Chicago magazine debunks the conspiracy theory by describing the diverse group of people who attended the protest. [Chicago]
